Callum Wilson takes out costly roaming plan for post-season trip to Australia
Newcastle United's striker has reportedly taken out an unlimited mobile roaming plan for both data and calls while he is in Australia for the club's post-season friendlies.
Sources close to Wilson say the forward is incredulous at being left out of England's provisional squad ahead of the Euro's. He is absolutely positive Gareth Southgate has made a mistake, and it's only a matter of time before his phone rings with news he is expected to report to St George's Park.
Speaking with reporters about the selection, Wilson was adamant he should be anywhere but Down Under for these European Championships.
"It comes up on the telly and they talk about who should be going to the Euro's and I see all these names coming up but don't see my name there. OK."
"If you peel it back and look at goals to games and minutes to goals, I'm up there as one of the better, better strikers in the league"
So, in his hotel room in Melbourne, as Australia sleeps and his jet lag kicks in, Wilson leaves his phone on loud, in equal parts hope and expectation, as he waits for a call that will not come.
